May 14 Bleeding Hearts

May 14 Bleeding Hearts, originally uploaded by NedraI.

This picture turned out better than I expected. It was very windy and I was hand holding the camera so I thought it would be blurry. I like the curve of the stem and the little bit of green.

Daily Shoot-Windmill Shadow

Find an interesting shadow--any shadow--and make a photograph of it. Consider your framing as you shoot.

This shows a little bit of country in our backyard. My husband bought this miniature windmill when he was in Iowa last winter and has set it up next to our shed that has barnish looking doors.

Today's Daily Shoot assignment is:
Make a photograph with motion blur of one kind or another. Use a slow shutter speed, pan, or both.

I'm a day late taking this one. I had a hard time deciding which picture to use since I liked several of the shots. I decided to go with this one since it shows the center part of the windmill in focus. This was taken with my 105 macro lens.

Working on close ups of everyday objects. The dandelions seem to be loving our crazy weather and are taking over the yard and garden! Close up you can see their beauty.

May 11 Daily Shoot Tools

May 11 Daily Shoot Tools, originally uploaded by NedraI.

What tools do you use and appreciate on a daily basis? Make an interesting photo of one such tool today. (@koocbor)

My first thought was to shot some electronic device but then decided to go for something different. I don't think I realized how often I used a knife until I broke my hand and using a one became a difficult or even impossible task.

May 10 Daily Shoot Unseen Books

May 10 Daily Shoot Unseen Books, originally uploaded by NedraI.

Pay attention to your surroundings today. Make a photo of something you walk by every day without noticing.

These books are in the living room but barely noticed or looked at. I need to pull out the Georgia O'Keefe book. She is an inspiration for some of my photos.
I also found a piece of candy under the cabinet. Really surprised the dog hadn't seen that!

Daily Shoot-Today's Date

Daily Shoot-Today's Date, originally uploaded by NedraI.

Make a photo that contains today's date in it somehow. Maybe abstract representation of the numbers. Maybe literally.

I love these old blocks. Now that I look at this I'm thinking I should have tried for Today is.. oh well...

May 9-Happy Mother's Day

May 9-Happy Mother's Day, originally uploaded by NedraI.

My daughter gave me this bouquet last night. The bright colors are definitely her! She arranged them in a vase she made for me in Middle School. I love the flowers. I took them outside for a few minutes to snap the picture but it was so cold and windy I didn't take many. I'm going to try again tomorrow to capture all the colors.

May 8 Daily Shoot Weather

May 8 Daily Shoot Weather, originally uploaded by NedraI.

Daily Shoot assignment #174 was to "make a photograph that illustrates the last few days of weather wherever you've been."

This picture captures our recent weather fairly well. We've had sunshine and blue skies as well as some heavy thunderstorms the last two nights and lots of wind! What it doesn't show is, according to my daughter, our bi-polar temperatures. Last weekend it was hot and humid. Tonight snow is in the forecast. Crazy spring!

The pair of swans on the campus pond were not afraid of my camera. Unfortunately, I didn't adjust my camera for the sun shining on the white feathers. I have 3 more trips to the doctor in this town so I should get a chance to try again!

Daily Shoot Grid

Daily Shoot Grid, originally uploaded by NedraI.

Daily Shoot-Find a grid pattern somewhere-maybe a brick sidewalk or ceiling tiles-and make a photo of an interesting slice of it.

So many interesting colors, shapes and textures in this old brick building.

Daily Shoot-Strawberry Shortcake Sundae

Daily Shoot: Breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Make a photograph of a yummy part of one of your meals today.

Tonight we attended a ceremony for our daughter's completion of the Regional Program of Excellence. Through this program students complete internships in programs they think they might like to pursue in college. Our daughter did two PT internships. Afterwards we went out for dessert before dinner. However, after enjoying desert we decided we were no longer hungry for dinner! This was our daughter's treat.

May 5-Flowers

Today was the first time since breaking my hand that I felt like taking pictures. It felt good. I make sure I use the neck strap since I can't grip too tightly with my dominant hand. I forgot the name of these flowers. They look like miniature tulips.

May 2 First Broken Bone

May 2 First Broken Bone, originally uploaded by NedraI.

Yesterday I did the 36 mile training ride for The Ride for Missing Children.Today I decided to do the 40 mile ride since I haven't been getting out as much as I like. I knew if I did this I'd be feeling pretty pumped and ready for The Ride. Today I was really struggling with the hills, my legs were more tired than I realized from yesterday's ride. For the first time this year a Shepard was often close by giving encouragement and suggestions to make things easier. On our return trip on the last big hill a Shepard was right next to me. I was keeping my head down and my eyes on the tire in front of me and I put my hands on the top of the handle bars. I was focused on making it up that hill without falling to the back of the pack. Then I heard "Rider down!" I looked up and saw a rider down and others joining her. With my hands out of position, which I had never done before, I didn't react quickly enough and I flipped over the top of my bike and landed on a pile of bikes and riders. It was a very scary moment. Fortunately, I was the only one injured. One gentleman couldn't finish the ride because his bike was damaged. When we got back to our starting point a doctor that's doing the ride came over and checked my injuries. He called the ER room and ordered the x-ray so I got right in. I broke the bone on the side of hand. On Monday I went to an orthopedic doctor. He had to reset the bones. Other than my hand I just have some pretty bruises all over my body. I feel fortunate that I came out in this good of shape.

May 1 Daily Shoot DOF & Fav Beverage

Today’s Daily Shoot assignment is:
TGIF! To celebrate the end of the week, make an artistic shot of your favorite beverage or libation today
Today’s Daily Shoot assignment is:
Make two photos today of the same subject: one with deep depth of field, one with shallow. Post your favorite of the two.

I missed yesterday's shot so I'm combining it with today's shot. Lately I've been picking up any coffee beers I can find. This one had a great coffee flavor and has become a instant favorite.

April 30 Time to Bike

April 30 Time to Bike, originally uploaded by NedraI.

The weather has been very windy recently which equals less time for me to be on my bike. Today I found myself looking outside frequently and loving the fact that the school flag was barely moving. I finally got out for a ride after school with a friend. We know we have a long ride coming up tomorrow so we kept today's ride about 20 miles. I have to say windy days make for better flag pictures! www.flickr.com/photos/nedrai/4561642483/
