Country Road

Country Road, originally uploaded by ElementaryTechTeacher.

I have a twenty minute ride to work. No stop lights, 5 stop signs and very little traffic. My main concern is watching out for deer and turkeys. Recently there was some bridge work done on one of the roads which resulted in them narrowing the bridge and putting a stop sign on both sides of the bridge. In my opinion a yield sign would be fine. Since I don't like having to stop in the middle of the road I now take a different road and it has become my favorite part of the drive. The entire narrow road, which is probably less than 2 miles, is lined with trees and a creek runs along one side of it. It was gorgeous in the fall when the trees were ablaze with red, yellow and orange. Even now it is lovely with the bare branches touched with snow.

  1. Reminds me of John Denver's song Country Roads...Take me home...West Virginia; Mountain Momma...take me home country roads

  3. I worked for a while in the country. Driving through countryside like this helped me start the day relaxed and happy.

  4. Beautiful. I live within a stones throw of my office. I often miss having a drive to contemplate my day. Some days I leave a little early and go for a morning drive just to get my head around the day. (Not very environmentally friendly I know. But even a walk to work would be too short.) I am glad you recognize the beauty in your morning.

  5. What a lovely drive - puts you in a good mood on the way there, soothes you on the way home.

  6. Lovely to drive through no doubt. Could you take another photo in the spring and autumn later this year? Would be great to see it in different seasons.

  7. Grace Kat-That's a great idea. I will definitely do that. I've enjoyed looking at other people's photos on flickr when they take the same shot in different seasons. Thanks for the suggestion.

  8. Yes, this view would make a great seasonal project. One of my friends took a picture of her backyard in each season and then framed the four pictures in one frame.
